Sketch Design

Concept design and design exploration

Sketch Design is where ideas begin to take form. We help you explore different design possibilities, tests approaches and develops a preferred direction for the project. Through sketches, diagrams and early design studies, we investigate how the home may be organised, how it responds to the site and how it can best support the way you live.

The outcome is a clearer understanding of the opportunities available and a stronger foundation for future design development.

Why explore multiple design possibilities?

The first design solution is not always the best one.

Sketch Design provides an opportunity to explore different approaches, test ideas and evaluate alternatives before committing to a preferred direction.

By considering multiple possibilities early, important decisions can be made with greater confidence and a clearer understanding of the opportunities available.

Exploring and refining the design

Sketch Design develops the agreed direction into a clear and resolved architectural and interior concept, ready for consultant input and cost planning.

We translate the strategic direction into floor plans and 3D representations, supported by an outline specification, so you can understand how your home will work and feel before moving into detailed documentation.

During this stage, we:

  • Develop architectural and interior design concepts.

  • Prepare floor plans and key spatial relationships.

  • Test circulation, light, flow and functional planning.

  • Develop preliminary elevations and overall building form.

  • Integrate interior design direction and spatial experience.

  • Provide 3D representations to support understanding of the design.

  • Prepare an outline specification and material direction.

  • Align the design with budget and buildability.

  • Coordinate with key consultants as required.

You leave this stage with:

  • A resolved architectural and interior design concept.

  • Clear floor plans and 3D representations showing how the home will function.

  • An understanding of spatial quality, light and flow.

  • An outline specification and material direction.

  • An aligned cost plan and indicative project timeframe.

  • A design ready to progress into Design Development and Documentation.

If the design is confirmed, the next stage is Design Development and Construction Documentation.

What comes next?

Once a preferred design direction has been established, the project can progress into Architecture and Interior Design services, where the design is developed in greater detail and prepared for documentation and delivery.

Let's explore the possibilities

Sketch Design provides an opportunity to test ideas, compare options and establish a preferred direction before moving into detailed design.

Where are you in your journey?

Every project begins somewhere different. You may be considering a property, testing possibilities, exploring design directions or ready to begin. We help clients understand what is possible, what it will take and which path is right for them before significant time and money are committed.

Strategy.

Design.
